WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Oh, the weather outside is frightful…no, wait a minute. While the tune seems more than appropriate for the current holiday season, UNCW’s track and field athletes benefitted from ideal conditions Thursday during the program’s annual fall Teal-Navy Meet at the Harold Greene Track and Field Complex.

With dry weather and temperatures in the 70’s the order of the day, Coach Jim Sprecher split his team into two squads and the Teal unit came out on top by a narrow 135.5-130.5 score.

The highlight of the meet came in the Women’s 60 Meters when both senior Maleena Reid and junior Hailey Blackburn each clocked a 7.1, besting the meet record of 7.2 seconds set by Reid last year. Reid was given the nod by meet officials.

In another highlight, senior Krista Mangum tied her own meet record in the 60 Meter Hurdles with an 8.4 seconds finish. The Navy team won both 4x300 relays, with the men exhibiting good depth in the 4x300 relays.
