FAIRFAX, VirginiaValtteri Halonen continued his tremendous showing at the Patriot Invitational, winning two more events and setting a meet record to lead UNCW on the second day of the meet at the McKay Natatoirum.

Host George Mason leads both meets while UNCW holds second and sixth in the men’s and women’s meets, respectively.

Halonen gave the Seahawks wins in the 100 Fly (49.39) and later set a meet record when he edged teammate Michael Baric with a time of 49.81 in the 100 Backstroke. For Halonen, it was his third event win of the meet after winning the 50 Free on Thursday.

UNCW has set a pair of meet records as Halonen joined the men’s 400 Medley Relay who set a record on Thursday.

Jenson Engen, who ranked 45th entering the meet in the 100 Breaststroke, won the women’s event with time of 1:03.59, just missing her season-best time of 1:03.55.

Gabe Thran gave the Seahawks a second-place finish in the 200 Freestyle.

In relay action, UNCW finished second in the 200 Medley Relay in both meets.

The meet concludes on Saturday beginning with the preliminaries at 10 a.m.
