WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Sophomore striker Colin Bonner was named Colonial Athletic Association Player-of-the-Week after his hat trick against Northeastern in the regular season finale helped give UNCW a bye to the semifinals of this week’s conference championship tournament.

Bonner recorded his first career three-goal game in the 4-2 win over the Huskies and the first for UNCW since the 2011 season finale when Shawn Guderian did so against George Mason. It was Bonner’s second multi-goal game of the season after scoring twice in the season opening win at Ohio State.

The three-goal outing gave Bonner the team lead with six goals and 15 points.

For Bonner, it’s his second CAA Player-of-the-Week award after winning the honors in the opening week of the season after his season-opening outburst against OGU.

The Seahawks head to Philadelphia for the semifinal round of the conference tournament, hosted by regular season champion Drexel, where they’ll take on nationally-ranked William & Mary, which is ranked as high as 23rd in a national poll. UNCW and the Tribe finished in a 2-all stalemate earlier this month at the UNCW Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. on Nov. 14 at Vidas Field.
