CAA Player of the Week Nominee

Colin Bonner, Sophomore, Forward, Fulton, Md./Reservoir

Bonner lifted the Seahawks to a 4-2 win in the regular season finale win over visiting Northeastern with his first career hat trick. Bonner raised his season goal total to six with the three-goal outing, which was the first by a Seahawk since the 2011 season. Bonner twice gave UNCW’s leads and his final goal completed the game’s scoring.

Team/Player Notes:

The Seahawks earned a bye to the CAA tournament semifinals with their 4-2 win over Northeastern … UNCW was picked fifth by the league’s coaches in the preseason poll … It will be the first time the Seahawks enter the tournament as the two-seed … UNCW was the top-seed in both the 2008 and 2009 tournaments … The last Seahawk to notch a hat trick was Shawn Guderian against George Mason in the 2011 season finale … Jamie Dell notched his second game-winning goal of the season in the Northeastern game … Nathaniel Goodwin collected a career-high two assists in the game … UNCW’s 20 goals allowed this season is the lowest total since 2010 when it allowed just 13 … The Seahawks will take on William & Mary in the first semifinal game on Nov. 14 … UNCW has never beaten the Tribe in the CAA tournament, but the teams have not met since 2001.
