WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The Seahawks wrap up the regular season with a two-game homestand beginning Saturday with nationally-ranked William & Mary. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

UNCW will conclude the regular season on Nov. 6 with another 7 p.m. kickoff against Northeastern.

The Seahawks are coming off an impressive two-game road sweep of nationally-ranked UNC Chapel Hill and Delaware, which boasts one of the top offenses in the nation.

Last time out, Mateo Cardona lifted the Seahawks to a 2-1 win at Delaware. The junior midfielder took advantage of a free kick opportunity from 20 yards out and delivered his second goal of the season.

Against UNC-CH, it was sophomore Jordan Cordero who provided the winning margin as his goal in the 36th minute was the game’s lone goal and gave UNCW a 1-0 victory. It was UNCW’s first win over the Tar Heels since the 1978 season and halted a winless streak of seven games against the Heels.

Freshman goalkeeper Sean Melvin earned CAA Rookie-of-the-Week honors, being credited with the win in both games and recording his second shutout of the season with his four-save effort against UNC-CH.

Junior Jacob VanCompernolle was named to College Soccer News’ team-of-the-week for his efforts defensively.

The Tribe ranks in the NCAA top-10 fin RPI, but fell at host Delaware, 3-1, in midweek conference play at Delaware. The Tribe, along with Delaware, is tied for  third in the league with the Seahawks. Drexel and Northeastern lead the eight-team circuit with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The only team already eliminated from the conference tournament consideration is James Madison. Charleston needs a win and losses by UNCW, Delaware and W&M to maintain any chance of playing in the postseason.
