WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Following a pair of impressive road wins, the UNCW men’s soccer team reentered the NSCAA South Atlantic Region rankings for the first time since the opening week of the season.

The Seahawks knocked off then No. 11 UNC Chapel Hill, 1-0, at Fetzer Field before picking up a key Colonial Athletic Association road win at Delaware, 2-1, over the weekend. In the UD win, UNCW held the nation’s leading offense to just two shots on goal. Junior Mateo Cardona’s goal with under four minutes was the difference in the contest.

Sean Melvin earned CAA Rookie-of-the-Week honors after posting a pair of wins, including this second shutout of the season in the UNC-CH victory. Junior defender Jacob VanCompernolle was honored by College Soccer News as part of its Team-of-the-Week.

UNCW closes out its regular season with a pair of home games beginning this Saturday with 15th-ranked William & Mary. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the UNCW Soccer Stadium. A Seahawk win or draw clinches a conference tournament berth.
