WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Ghouls and ghosts will stalk the halls of Trask Coliseum as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement (OSLE) join forces on Wednesday (Oct. 23) to deliver thrills and chills in a special pre-Halloween fundraiser.

The pilot event comes to life with creeps and haunts lurking through the second floor of the coliseum from 5-8 p.m., and lying in wait to get the jump on daring adventurers. Each area of the haunted arena will have a unique theme, and UNCW students will dish out fright and dress based on their theme.

“This is going to be a safe, fun environment for children 12 and under,” said SAAC academic coordinator Will Libous. “There are children and others who don’t have a chance to enjoy Halloween, and we see this as an opportunity to make it as fun as possible.”

The fundraiser is designed to help SAAC raise funds to launch future events for UNCW students and the Wilmington community. Children from the Boys & Girls Club and students from local elementary schools will have an opportunity to explore the haunted spectacle.

Admission is $5 and includes unlimited treks through the spooky setup.

After the scares and excitement, the bold may head down to the first floor to recharge with refreshments at OSLE’s 5:30-7:30 p.m. carnival. Halloween-themed games will accompany the food and drink, along with the chance to speak with OSLE members.

Anyone interested in volunteering is welcome to attend and may contact Libous at libousw@uncw.edu or (910) 962-4179.
