CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina – A pair of UNCW doubles teams advanced in the Carolina Region ITA Women’s Tennis Championships Thursday at North Carolina’s Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

Junior Hamilton Lovett and freshman Alix Theodossoiu edged Wake Forest’s Brigita Bercvte and Kristina Centenari, 8-5, and will face Duke’s Annie Mulholland and Chalena Scholl on Friday at 9:30 a.m.

Senior Olga Blank and newcomer Hollie Champion trimmed Elon’s Barbora Lazarova and Viviana Stavreva, 8-5, in the bottom half of the draw. Blank and Champion meet Wake’s Xue Zhang and Kasey Gardiner on Friday at 10:30 a.m.

In another doubles match played Thursday, senior Angie Sekley and junior Alyssa Ritchie fell to UNC’s Laura Slater and Kate Vialle, 8-6, in a close match.

Blank, Sekely and Ritchie each open play in singles tomorrow when the tournament begins its second day of action.
