UNCW suffered its first home loss of the season last week as it fell to league-leading College of Charleston, 3-1, at Hanover Hall on Oct. 11 … The Seahawks, playing their first home match since Sept. 13, had won each of its first four home contests prior to the setback against the Cougars … Junior Morgan Kline tallied 15 kills and senior Christi Laite added 10 to lead the Seahawks attack … Freshman Alyssa Desjardins dished out 22 assists and senior Haley Collins added 20 … Sophomore Lindsay Hartmann led all players with 16 digs … Through 19 matches, Laite continues to pace the Seahawks attack as she leads the team in both kills per set (3.08) and hitting percentage (.248) … She currently ranks third in the CAA and 71st in the nation among active players in career kills (1,029) … Collins also finds herself among the nation’s active career leaders, sitting in 63rd place in career digs (1,342) … Despite playing only one match last week, the Seahawks still lead the CAA and rank among the top 35 teams in the country in both service aces (1.65/20th) and blocks (2.63/34th) per set …. Individually, Peacock sits 26th among all players in blocks per frame (1.34) while freshman Nicole Lott is first in the CAA and 77th in the nation in service aces per set (0.36) … UNCW remains at home this week as it entertains James Madison (Oct. 18) and William & Mary (Oct. 20) in a pair of CAA contests.

James Madison begins the week looking to build off a solid home weekend that saw it knock off Delaware and Towson in a pair of 3-1 victories to move to a tie for third place in the league standings … Reigning CAA Rookie-of-the-Week Janey Goodman continues to impress in her freshman campaign as she remains the team leader in kills per set (3.08) … Junior Lizzy Briones has been effective on both sides of the ball, ranking fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.298) and second on the circuit in blocks per frame (1.32) … Sophomore McKenzie Kleespies sits fifth in the league in digs per frame (3.68) … Friday’s matchup marks the 52nd meeting between the two programs … The Dukes hold a 38-13 edge in the all-time series … The Seahawks have won each of the past three matchups, including a 3-2 victory Oct. 6 at Sinclair Gymnasium, a match that saw the Seahawks rally from a 21-16 deficit in the fourth set on its way to claiming the five-set triumph.

Currently tied for fifth in the league standings, William & Mary opens a five-match road swing this weekend after putting the finishing touches on a five-match homestand last weekend with a split of its matches against Delaware (L 3-2) and Towson (W 3-2) … Junior Liz Brown serves as the focal point of the W&M offense, leading the squad in both kills (3.16) and hitting percentage (.248) to ranking among the top 10 players in the CAA in both categories … Senior Paulette Grand Pre and sophomore Carolyn Albright highlight the Tribe’s defensive efforts … Grand Pre currently sits third in the CAA in digs per set (4.14) while Albright sits in fifth on the circuit in blocks per set (1.02) … Friday’s contest will serve as the 53rd meeting between the two schools … William & Mary holds a 48-4 advantage in the all-time series and took the first meeting between the two sides with a 3-2 victory at Kaplan Arena on Oct. 4.
