WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Seven Seahawk pitchers combined to allow one run and walk one while striking out 10, as UNCW topped the Czech Republic National Team, 4-1, on Monday in an exhibition game at Brooks Field.

Sophomore Ryan Foster, who finished with four strikeouts, earned the win after allowing just two hits and a walk over four shutout innings. Fellow sophomore Will Shepley allowed just one hit in two innings of relief.

Petr Minarik was tagged with the loss after allowing a run on three hits and a walk in three innings.

UNCW junior Corey Dick gave the Seahawks the lead in the second inning with a leadoff homer off Minarik to rightcenter.

Sophomore infielder Terence Connelly led the UNCW lineup with two hits, including a RBI single.

Freshmen Justin Carroll and Chris Gaffney collected RBI triple and double, respectively, for the Seahawks.

Juri Marek collected a game-high three hits, including two doubles for the Czech Republic. Jakub Hajtmar added two hits.

UNCW begins its annual Blue-Teal World Series on Oct. 18 with a 6 p.m. start. Admission is free for the series. Check UNCWsports.com for updated days and times for the games.
