Player of the Week Nominee (Pos., Class, Hometown, High School):

Jack Ward, F, Junior, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England/Fayetteville Academy

- Ward sank visiting James Madison with a goal in the 55th minute as the Seahawks topped the Dukes, 1-0, on Saturday in a hotly contested conference match. For Ward, it was his second game-winner of the season, having also scored the difference-maker against Col. of Charleston in the league opener for both sides earlier in the season. On the winning goal, Ward beat his defender to a cross from Jamie Dell and directed it inside the right post. Ward had entered the game at the half and impacted the game immediately.

Team/Player Notes:

The Seahawks improved to 2-1-1 at home with Saturday’s win over James Madison … UNCW held the Dukes shot less in the first 45 min while building a 6-0 advantage in shots … Sophomore Sam Williams made his fifth straight start in goal and posted his second shutout in that run … He made a pair of saves, both at point-blank range in the second half of Saturday’s win … Williams (3-1-1) now has a 0.85 goals against average and stopped 14-of-18 shots on goal … Colin Bonner and Jacob VanCompernolle are the only Seahawks to start all 11 games … Junior Jamie Dell notched his team-leading fourth assist of the season on Ward’s game-winner ... With that assist, Dell equaled his team-leading total from a year ago.
