GREENVILLE, North Carolina – The UNCW women’s golf team posted a team total 630 and is in 13th place after 36 holes in the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate Monday at the Greenville Country Club.

Playing in intermittent rain showers throughout both rounds, the Seahawks (312-318) are one shot ahead of fellow Colonial Athletic Association member William & Mary (312-319=631) and just five shots back of 12th-place Boston College (319-306=625).

“Despite our score, I felt we played well at times today,” said UNCW Head Coach Cindy Ho. “We continually put ourselves in position to score, we just didn’t execute when we had our opportunities. I think we are putting too much pressure on ourselves at key moments and because of that, we end up making mistakes that are costing us.”

Senior Lori Beth Adams (76-77=153) paced the Seahawks on Monday and will enter the final round part of a four-way tie for 30th. Junior Mallory Warrick (77-80=157) is four shots back of Adams in a tie for 47th while senior Laverry Kumar (80-81=161/T-61st), sophomore Elizabeth Hall (79-84=163/T-65th) and senior Megan Burnham (85-80=165/T-77th) completed UNCW’s entry. Senior Jeanne Metivier (84-79=163/T-65th) is competing in the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate as an individual entry.

“The effort is there, we’re just not executing at the level we need to in order to be successful,” said Ho. “We need to focus on putting together good rounds and start believing that we can play at high level.”

East Tennessee State (288-308=596) holds a one-shot lead over host East Carolina (295-302=597) heading into Tuesday’s final round. Middle Tennessee State (309-289=598) is in third while Old Dominion (299-300=599) sits in fourth.

Middle Tennessee State’s Avery George (75-67=142) holds the individual lead by one shot over Chattanooga’s Jordan Britt (72-71=143). First-round leader Vivienne Chin (67-77=144) of East Tennessee State is in third while Georgia State’s Maria Palacios (76-69=145) and Maryland’s Juliet Vongphoumy (73-72=145) are tied for fourth.

The final round action of the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate is scheduled for a shotgun start Tuesday at 8:25 a.m.
