WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW sophomore defensive specialist Lindsay Hartmann was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Defensive Player-of-the-Week on Monday.

Hartmann becomes the fourth member of the volleyball program to be recognized by the league this season. Senior Christi Laite (Sept. 3) and junior Morgan Kline (Sept. 16) were recognized as Offensive Players-of-the-Week while freshman Nicole Lott was tabbed Rookie-of-the-Week in back-to-back weeks (Sept. 16 & Sept. 23).

“Our team played great defense all weekend and Lindsay’s effort and determination was a huge part of this accomplishment,” said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. “Lindsay has always shown great hustle every day in practice but her reading and defensive adjustments were fantastic versus William & Mary and James Madison.”

A native of Edgewood, Ky., Hartmann averaged 5.70 digs per frame as she helped the Seahawks post a 1-1 record in league matches at William & Mary and James Madison last weekend. She began the road trip by tallying a career-high 33 digs to pace a Seahawks lineup that established a new rally-scoring era record for digs in a match with 114 in a 3-2 setback to the Tribe. She followed that performance with 24 digs as UNCW surpassed the 100-dig plateau for the second straight contest with 101 bumps in a 3-2 victory versus the Dukes.

UNCW (12-6, 1-3 CAA) returns to action Friday as it hosts league newcomer the College of Charleston in a 7 p.m. contest at Hanover Hall.
