WILMINGTON, North Carolina – A revamped UNCW men’s basketball squad visited with area print, electronic and on-line media late Wednesday during the team’s annual “Media Day” festivities at Trask Coliseum.

The Seahawks and fourth-year head coach Buzz Peterson officially begin practice on Sept. 27 in preparation for a challenging slate of 31 games in 2013-14. A total of 31 individual interviews were conducted Wednesday with the Seahawk players and coaches under the new lighting scheme in Trask Coliseum.

The UNCW men face in-state opponent Belmont Abbey in an exhibition game Oct. 30 and battle Methodist in another tune-up on Nov. 3 before the regular season opener Nov. 8 at Big Ten Conference power Iowa at black-and-yellow clad Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.

The Seahawks return five of their top six scorers from one year ago, including backcourt mates Chris Dixon (9.8 ppg) and Craig Ponder (8.5 ppg). Junior Cedrick Williams will anchor the inside play after collecting 6.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in his second season with the club.

Season tickets for UNCW’s 14 home games are still available by calling the UNCW Athletic Ticket Office at 910-962-3233 or visiting UNCWsports.com.
