UNCW opened Colonial Athletic Association play with a pair of road setbacks to Hofstra (3-1) and Northeastern (3-0) … The Seahawks struggled offensively in its first two conference matches, combining to post a .097 hitting percentage, including a season-low (-.028) attack clip versus Northeastern … Freshman Nicole Lott continued her solid play as she averaged 3.00 kills per set and a .278 hitting percentage to begin league play … Senior Courtney Porter finished the weekend with 11 total blocks to highlight a Seahawks frontline that averaged 2.64 blocks per frame … Senior Christi Laite recorded 11 kills over the weekend to move her career kills total to 996 … With four more kills, she will become the just the sixth player in school history with 1,000 career kills … Latie is also just nine spikes away from matching Lindsey Strucko (2006-09) for fifth place on the program’s all-time kills chart … The Seahawks continue to lead the CAA and rank among the top 25 teams in the country in both service aces (1.77/17th) and blocks (2.71/22nd) per set …. UNCW remains on the road this week as it wraps up an eight-match road swing with CAA contests at William & Mary (Oct. 4) and James Madison (Oct. 6).

William & Mary opened conference play last weekend with a 3-2 setback at James Madison … Prior to the Seahawks arrival in Williamsburg, the Tribe will host Liberty on Tuesday as it kicks off a five-match homestand … Junior Liz Brown serves as the focal point of the W&M offense, leading the squad in both kills (3.17) and hitting percentage (.256) … Senior Paulette Grand Pre and sophomore Carolyn Albright highlight the Tribe’s defensive efforts as Grand Pre is third in the CAA in digs per set (4.14) while Albright sits in fifth on the circuit in blocks per set (1.02) … Friday’s contest will serve as the 52nd meeting between the two schools … William & Mary holds a 47-4 advantage in the all-time series, but the Seahawks have won three of the last four meetings against the Tribe, including a 3-1 triumph at Kaplan Arena last October.

James Madison opened Colonial Athletic Association play last weekend with a 3-2 victory over William & Mary at Sinclair Gymnasium … Freshman Janey Goodman paces the Dukes attack with her 3.17 kills per set average while junior Lizzy Briones is fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.278) … Briones also plays a key role in JMU’s defensive efforts, ranking second in the league in blocks per frame (1.33) while sophomore McKenzie Kleespies is fifth in the league in digs per frame (3.33) … Sunday’s matchup marks the 51st meeting between the two programs … The Dukes hold a 38-12 edge in the all-time series, but the Seahawks have won each of the past two matchups, including a 3-1 victory last October at Hanover Hall.
