Nagy led the Seahawks with a 13th-place finish while the team placed eighth in the highly competitive field of 14 schools that include national powers Georgia Tech, Duke, UNC and NC State. For Nagy, who recorded 10 birdies on the weekend, it was his first top-20 finish since the 2012 CAA Championships. He opened the third round in a tie for 24th, but fashioned an even-par-72 on Sunday to climb the standings and finish tied for 13th.

Team Notes: The Seahawks opened with an eighth-place finish at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate in their season opener … UNCW will return to action on Sept. 22-24 at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate on Daufuskie Island, S.C. … Senior Stefan Brewer joined Nagy in the top-20 with a 19th-place finish … UNCW’s lineup included a pair of freshmen as Preston Harrington and Thomas Lilly made their collegiate debuts … Harrington and Lilly finished 49th and 63rd overall, respectively … Nagy recorded two of UNCW’s four rounds of par or lower golf … Brewer had the other two rounds.

Next Tournament: Rees Jones Invitational, Rees Jones Signature Golf Course at Haig Point, 72/7380 yards … UNCW finished sixth last season at the Invitational … Liberty won the team title.
