WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW’s men’s soccer team visits Elon this Saturday at 7 p.m., in the two team’s first meeting since 2007. The all-time record between the Phoenix and Seahawks is 2-2-1.

Elon opened the season at 3-0-1, after sweeping the Hilton Garden Inn Classic. Charles Howard, the Classic’s Offensive Most Outstanding Player, joins James Brace, who has six points on three goals, as the main offensive weapons for the Phoenix.

The Phoenix join the CAA next year after being a member of the Southern Conference since 2003. Elon won the 2011 and 2012 Southern Conference championships. Elon finished last season at 15-5-2, and qualified for the NCAA tournament.

Colin Bonner leads the 3-1 Seahawks with six points and two goals, and posted his first career two-assist game in the Seahawks’ 3-1 win over Mercer at last week’s tournament. Nathaniel Goodwin, who scored his second game-winner of the season, is second on the Seahawks with four points.

Saturday’s match with Elon is the first of a six-game stretch with only one home game for the Seahawks. UNCW opened the season with a pair of road wins, knocking off host Ohio State and then edging Cincinnati, 1-0, in a neutral site game in Columbus, Ohio.

UNCW will also face UNCG, Charleston, Duke, and Hofstra during that tough stretch.
