UNCW continued its season-opening road swing last weekend with losses to state foes Western Carolina (2-1) and UNCG (2-0) in the ECU Soccer Tournament in Greenville … Sophomore Katrina Guillou scored her first goal of the season with her strike late in the first half of Friday’s contest versus the Catamounts … Sophomore Theresa O’Sullivan picked up her first collegiate point with an assist on Guillou’s tally … Friday’s game against Western Carolina marked the first ever meeting between the two programs … Against UNCG, the Seahawks held a 2-0 lead midway through the second half before the game had to be rescheduled for Monday due to multiple lightning delays … The matchup between the Seahawks and Spartans represented the first meeting between the two schools since the 2003 campaign … Freshman keepers Carolyn Huddy and Liisa Rahkola continue to split time in goal, with Huddy getting the start versus the Catamounts and Rahkola earning the call against the Spartans.

East Carolina (2-1-1)

East Carolina posted a split of its matches in the ECU Soccer Tournament over the holiday weekend, falling to UNCG, 1-0, before rebounding for a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Western Carolina on Monday … The Pirates have found balance in their attack in the early going as five players have found the back of the net this season … Junior Lexi Miller and freshman Lana Spitler are tied for the team lead in scoring with three points each as Spitler paces the team with three assists … Junior Saundra Baron has started all four games in goal for the Pirates and has recorded 14 saves, 0.67 goal against average and a .824 save percentage in that span … Friday’s meeting marks the 18th matchup between the two former conference rivals … The Pirates hold a 12-5-1 edge in the all-time series and have four of the last five meetings, including a 2-1 victory at the UNCW Soccer Stadium last September.

NC State (4-0-0)

NC State extended its winning streak to four games last  weekend with shutout victories against Georgia Southern (4-0) and East Tennessee State (3-0) … Freshman Jackie Stengel has gotten off to a torrid start to her collegiate career, leading the Wolfpack in scoring with 11 points on the strength of a team-best five goals and one assist … Freshmen keepers Karly Gustafson and Mackenzie Stelljes have split time net in the early going … the duo has combined to record 14 saves, a 1.00 goals against average and two shutouts … Sunday’s contest represents the fourth all-time meeting between the two programs and the first since the 2006 season … The Wolfpack have won all three previous matchups.
