WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women’s soccer team wraps up its exhibition schedule Saturday with a 7 p.m. contest versus Elon at Rudd Field.

The Seahawks return to the pitch after opening their preseason slate Monday with a 3-1 victory over Campbell at the UNCW Soccer Stadium. UNCW rallied from an early 1-0 deficit with goals from junior Katie O'Donnell and sophomores Lexie Krall and Katrina Guillou to record the two-goal victory.

Picked fifth in the Southern Conference preseason coaches poll, Elon looks to build on a 2012 campaign that saw the squad advance to the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament.

The Phoenix is led by senior defender Olivia Mackey, who was tabbed a Preseason All-Southern Conference selection on Thursday. Mackey anchored an Elon defense in 2012 that registered eight shutouts on the year and also tallied six points on two goals and two assists.

Elon is coached by former UNCW assistant coach Chris Neal, who spent seven seasons on veteran Seahawk Head Coach Paul Cairney’s staff before taking over the Phoenix program in 2008.

The Seahawks open the 2013 regular season Aug. 23 with a 7 p.m. contest at South Carolina. UNCW’s home opener is slated for Sept. 13 when they take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi during the UNCW Courtyard Marriott Wilmington Invitational.
