WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW junior midfielder Jamie Dell was named to the Colonial Athletic Association preseason all-conference squad by the league’s coaches while sophomore Colin Bonner was an honorable mention selection.

“This recognition is well deserved for Jamie and Colin,” said UNCW veteran Head Coach Aidan Heaney. “They both are coming off solid seasons and will be looked upon to contribute again this season. Jamie is one of the most exciting players in the conference and Colin showed his strength and determination around the goal.”

Dell, one of the top one-on-one players in the conference, sprang onto the scene as a sophomore when he earned first-team All-CAA honors behind a career-best 12 points on four goals and a team-high four assists. Against Duke, Dell notched the game-winner as the Seahawks dealt the Blue Devils a 2-1 loss at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

Bonner, meanwhile, led the Seahawks with 14 points on six goals and a pair of assists. He was named to the All-Rookie squad in 2012. He became UNCW’s first freshman to lead the team in scoring since 2007, when Allen Lomax notched 11 points.

Drexel’s Nathan Page was selected as the league’s preseason player-of-the-year. The Dragons boasted a league-high three players on the preseason all-conference squad.

The Seahawks play the first of two exhibition games on Aug. 17 at 5 p.m. against visiting Longwood. The game will be played at Legion Stadium in Wilmington and tickets can be purchased at Wilmingtonhammerheads.com. The hometown Hammerheads will also play that evening against Antigua at 7:30 p.m.
