WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Senior shortstop Lauryn Buckworth of the UNCW softball team has added another honor to go along with her First-Team All-Conference accolades from the Colonial Athletic Association.

Buckworth, a native of Elkton, Md., was named to the 2013 University Division All-State Softball Team by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) on Thursday. Twenty-three student-athletes representing nine different North Carolina Universities were recognized on the first and second teams.

Buckworth, who earned First-Team honors, led the Seahawks with a .355 batting average and 55 hits, including a team-best 14 doubles. She ranked second in runs batted in (29) and struck out a team-low six times in 155 at-bats. Defensively, Buckworth ranked second on the team in assists (83) and third in putouts (85).

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by NCCSIA members. Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions in the state of North Carolina.
