WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW’s Kosta Blank has been recognized by the Colonial Athletic Association as the Men’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year, joining 10 other conference student-athletes recognized in their sports for their athletic and academic accomplishments this spring.

The CAA honors one scholar-athlete in each of its 22 championship sports. Nominees for the award must be a starter or important reserve on their team and must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25. The winners were selected by a vote of the media relations directors at each CAA institution.

Blank, from Winnipeg, Canada, graduated last month with his B.S. Degree in Business Management/Information Systems. He was named recipient of the Chancellor’s Cup Award at the school’s athletic awards banquet after leading the team to its third CAA championship and fourth appearance in the NCAA Regionals.

Blank was selected to the Capital One Academic All-America All-District team after earning First-Team All-CAA honors in singles and doubles. He finished his career as UNCW’s all-time leader in doubles and ranks fourth in singles.

Also earning honors were Hofstra senior Joe Burg in baseball, William & Mary senior Jeremy Wells in men’s golf, Xavier senior Breanna Patz in women’s golf, Massachusetts senior Jake Smith in men’s lacrosse, Hofstra senior Jill Maier in women’s lacrosse, Northeastern senior Katherine Halbig in rowing, Hofstra senior Olivia Galati in softball,  James Madison senior Katherine Bulling in women’s tennis, William & Mary senior Alex McGrath in men’s track and field, and James Madison senior Katie Gorman in women’s track and field.
