|Adams Ends NCAA Regional Tied For 11th|
NORMAN, Oklahoma – Junior Lori Beth Adams posted a one-over-par 73 in the final round of the 2013 NCAA Central Regional Saturday at the Jimmy Austin OU Golf Club.
Adams finished the 54-hole event part of a five-way tie for 11th with a tournament scorecard of one-over-par 217 (69-75-73), two strokes back of Washington’s Ying Luo (73-74-68=215) and Wake Forest’s Olafia Kristindottir (72-74-69=215), who claimed the Central Regional’s two individual entries into the 2013 NCAA Women’s Golf National Championships.
Ally McDonald of Mississippi State took home regional medalist honors with a three-day total of 10-under-par 206 (69-69-68), five strokes ahead of three players – Oklahoma teammates Emily Collins (67-70-74=211) AC Tanguay (71-70-70=211) and Duke’s Alejandra Cangrego (72-69-70=211) – who finished in a three-way tie for second.
Starting the final round on the No. 1 tee, Adams began her day with four straight pars before a bogey on the par five fifth hole moved her to one-over.
Adams would rebound to par the sixth hole, but bogeys on the seventh and ninth holes put the Burlington, N.C., product at three-over-par at the turn.
On the back nine, a six-foot birdie putt on No. 10 moved Adams to two-over while a birdie on the par-five 13th brought her back to one-over.
Adams would par each of the final five holes, including the 18th that saw her run a 30-foot birdie attempt to just inches from the cup, to finish with a one-over-par total for both the round and the tournament.
