TOWSON, Maryland – UNCW’s Luke Dunlap collected four hits and four runs batted in, both career-highs, as the Seahawks topped host Towson, 10-5, in Colonial Athletic Association baseball on Friday at Schuerholz Park.

The Seahawks, who have won their last six overall and seventh consecutive road game, improved to 32-11 with the road win and 13-2 in the league. The Tigers, meanwhile, fell to 19-21 overall and 9-7 in the CAA. TU also extended its losing skid to four games.

Dunlap raised his batting average to .379 with his 4-for-4 outing at the plate and extended his career-long hitting streak to 13 games. Michael Bass, who entered the game fourth in the nation in batting average, also pushed his batting average to .441 with three more hits.

UNCW starter Mat Batts (7-2) earned the win, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings. Justin Livengood earned his second save of the season.

Mike Volpe suffered the loss for Towson after allowing eight runs, seven earned, on nine hits and five walks in five and 2/3 innings. His eight runs allowed were a season-high for him.

Hunter Bennett added three hits for the Tigers, who rallied late with three runs in the seventh and a run in the eighth.

Matt Keeler had two hits for UNCW and Corey Dick belted a two-run homer in the first inning, his fifth round tripper of the season.

Next up: The two teams continue their series on Saturday with a 2 p.m. start.

How it happened: UNCW got off to a quick start with three runs in the first inning. Bass singled to open the game with a single, stole second and scored one batter later on Dunlap’s single through the right side. Dick followed with line drive homer to right that scored Dunlap. The Seahawks never trailed in the game.

Inside the numbers: Luke Dunlap went 3-for-3 in RISP … UNCW placed its leadoff hitter on base in 6-of-9 innings and four of those runners came around to score … TU landed its leadoff hitter on base in just 2-of-9 innings, including Batts going 2-for-7 … Towson was just 4-for-15 with runners on base.

Notes: While Dunlap extended his hitting streak to 13 games, Ryan LaGrange pushed his career-long streak to 12 games … Michael Bass now has reached base safely in 39 consecutive games … Bass also posted his team-best 18th multiple-hit game this season … For Mat Batts, he won his third straight outing … UNCW is now 11-4 on the road and 22-2 when scoring first.
