Student-Athlete Week Sport Accomplishments
Chris Dixon Jan. 7-13 Men's Basketball Scored a career-high 30 points in UNCW's win over George Mason. The win snapped a 9-game losing streak to the Patriots.
Carly Tanner Jan. 14-21 Women's Swimming Won two events and swam on two winning relays as the Seahawks topped host Wingate. Her time in the 100 Breast was a pool record.
Meena Reid Jan. 22-28 Women's Track Reid broke her own school record in the 60 meters with a time of 7.48 at the Patriot Games last weekend.
Ryan O'Connor Jan. 29-Feb. 3 Men's Track O'Connor set a school record and ran the 18th fastest time national in the 800 meters at the Sykes Sabock Challenge Cup.
Casey Rowland Feb. 4-9 Softball Rowland went 2-0 in three appearances over the weekend at the Seahawk Beach Blast. She fanned 12 in 13.1 innings while limiting opponents to a .114 batting average.
Karneshia Garrett Feb. 10-18 Women's Basketball Scored 22 points and pulled down 20 rebounds in UNCW's 84-83 overtime win over Georgia State. It was the first time since 1988 a player had 20 or more points and rebounds in a game.
Keith Rendleman Feb. 19-24 Men's Basketball Became UNCW's all-time leading rebounder (1,034) and later scored 26 points and pulled down 12 rebounds against Delaware.
Carly Tanner Feb. 25-Mar. 4 Women's Swimming Tanner led the Seahawks with three event wins at the CAA Championships. She won the CAA title in the 50 Free, 100 Breast and 100 Free.
Jordan Ramsey Mar. 5-10 Baseball Ramsey tossed a complete game against VCU as the Seahawks won their weekend series aganist their former CAA rivals. He tied his career-high with seven strikeouts.
Kelva Atkins Mar. 11-17 Women's Basketball Atkins averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the CAA tournament. Opened the championship with a career-high 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting in a 60-46 victory over George Mason in the first round.
Payne McLeod Mar. 18-25 Men's Golf McLeod won his first collegiate tournament and helped the Seahawks to their first win of the season. McLeod was the only golfer to finish under-par for the tournament.
Mat Batts Mar. 26-31 Baseball Batts tossed his second straight complete game shutout as the Seahawks topped Old Dominion, 1-0. It was the first time since 2001 a Seahawk posted consecutive compete game shutouts.
Payne McLeod Apr. 1-7 Men's Golf McLeod's fourth top-10 finish of the year earned him CAA Golfer-of-the-Week honors for a fifth time.
Kosta Blank Apr. 8-14 Men's Tennis Blank went 2-0 on the week with victories over opponents from #68 Old Dominion and rival East Carolina. He’s now 13-4 in singles this season.
Lori Beth Adams Apr. 15-22 Women's Golf Adams rallied to finish second individually and lead the women’s golf team to second place in the CAA Championships. She earned CAA All-Tournament honors.
