WILMINGTON, North Carolina – With the Colonial Athletic Association championships around the corner later this month, UNCW’s Payne McLeod continued his strong play down the stretch and has been named CAA Co-Golfer-of-the-Week after a fourth-place finish at the Irish Creek Collegiate.

McLeod, who shared the honor with Drexel’s Chris Crawford, has now been named Golfer-of-the-Week five times this year.

At the Irish Creek Collegiate, McLeod carded a 71-69-72=212 to finish four-under for the tournament. He tied fifth-ranked Albin Choi of NC State. It was also the fifth time this season that he’s led the Seahawks in scoring at an event.

By finishing tied for fourth, McLeod now stands four all-time at UNCW with 12 top-10 finishes.

UNCW finished tied for fifth at the Irish Creek Collegiate, marking the fourth time in nine tournaments that they’ve finished fifth or better.

The Seahawks look to defend their CAA title later this month when they compete in the CAA Championship in Southport, N.C. The tournament begins on Apr. 26.
