CAA Player of the Week Nominee: Luke Dunlap, Soph., OF, Walnut Cove, N.C./East Forsyth

- Dunlap fueled the Seahawks in their 3-2 week hitting .467 (7-for-15) with a double and home run. He drew six walks, posted a .636 on base average and fashioned a .733 slugging percentage. At one point in the Davidson series, he reached base safely on a hit, error or walk in 12 straight at bats. Dunlap scored six runs and knocked in four. He homered in the Davidson opener for the Seahawks lone run.

CAA Pitcher of the Week Nominee: Christian MacDonald, Jr., LHP, Virginia Beach, Va./Greenbrier Academy

- MacDonald improved to 4-0 in his first season as a starter in the Seahawk rotation with a 4-1 win over Davidson on Sunday. He pitched into the eighth inning for the fourth time this season and retired 13 consecutive batters at one point before an eighth inning single. He walked two and struck out four as he lowered his ERA to 2.91 and opponents are hitting a meager .222 against the southpaw.

CAA Rookie of the Week Nominee: Evan Phillips, Fresh., RHP, Clayton, N.C./Clayton

- Phillips gave the Seahawk rotation another quality start as he improved to 2-0 with a six-inning start against College of Charleston in a 7-2 win over the future CAA rival. Phillips allowed a run on four hits and four walks and finished with five strikeouts.

Record Watch: Hunter Ridge, who became UNCW’s all-time hits leader in March, is poised to take the lead in RBI’s. He enters the week third all-time with 178 RBI. Jonathan Batts (2004-07) holds the school career record with 182 while former standout Matt Wright (2000-03) is second with 180 … Michael Bass (14-for-14) moved into a tie with Chip Grawey (2000-04) for fifth with 64 stolen bases.

Streaks: Michael Bass missed all five games with an ankle injury, but his hitting streak stands at 24 and ranks among the longest active streaks in the nation … The school record is 26 games set in 2001 by Magnus Pilegard. Bass exited the series finale after the fourth inning with an ankle injury, he is day-to-day.

Domination on the mound: UNCW allowed just five runs in its weekend series with Davidson. It was the third time this season the staff allowed five or fewer runs in a series this season. Last weekend, UNCW allowed just one earned run and four total in sweeping Old Dominion. Despite allowing 10 runs to top-ranked North Carolina, the Seahawks produced a 3.07 ERA for the week. On the season, Seahawk starters have produced a 16-7 record and a 2.83 ERA while opponents are hitting just .240 against them. UNCW has Jordan Ramsey (5-2, 1.60 ERA) and Mat Batts (4-2, 2.44 ERA) ranked in the CAA top-10 in ERA at second and seventh, respectively.

A Bass By Another Name: With Michael Bass missing all five games last week, the Seahawks turned to junior Dillon Bass, no relation, to take over at second base. Bass responded with a .333 batting average (5-for-15) and he made just one error in 30 total chances.

Notes: The Seahawks ran their home record to 19-6 at home this season with a pair of wins against Davidson over the weekend … When UNCW dropped a 10-0 decision to UNC and then a 2-1 setback at Davidson, it marked only the second time this season it loss in consecutive games … Matt Keeler and Drew Farber connected on three-run homers in UNCW’s 15-2 win over Davidson … In reaching double digits on the scoreboard in that game, it marked the first time since a 12-11 win over Ga. State on Mar. 23 … Since a one-run loss at Coll. of Charleston on Mar. 5, the Seahawks have gone on a tear with a 17-4 record … UNCW owns a 6-3 record in one-run games … In 24 career starts at UNCW, Mat Batts has pitched in 11 one-run games and is 3-2 in those games … In his last three starts, Batts is 2-1 with a 0.69 ERA and opponents are hitting .141 against him ... UNCW's crowd of 3,285 was the third largest for the program since 1999.
