WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW junior sprinter Meena Reid, who continued her assault on the program’s sprint records by breaking her own marks in the 100 and 200 meters, has been named Colonial Athletic Association Track Athlete-of-the-Week.

The Seahawks changed their meet plans late last week due to snow in western North Carolina, but that did not affect the sprinter from Gastonia, N.C., as she won the 100 and 200 meter events at the Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C.

She shared the weekly honor with George Mason’s Cierra McGee.

In the 100, Reid advanced to the finals with a time of 11.85 seconds and then won the finals with a record time of 11.59, eclipsing her own record of 11.68 set earlier this season at the Shamrock Invitational. Her time in the 100 meters ranks 11th in the East Region.

Later in the 200, Reid again qualified for the finals (24.89) before shaving nearly a second off her qualifying time in the finals when she clocked in at 23.92. Her previous school standard was 24.22, also set at the Shamrock Invitational.

To round out her outing at the Winthrop Invitational, she ran a leg of the winning 4x100 relay.

The Seahawks continue the outdoor season on Apr. 5-6 at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla.
