ROCK HILL, South CarolinaMeena Reid smashed the UNCW record in the 100 meters to highlight five event wins for the Seahawks on Saturday at the Winthrop Invitational at the Irwin Belk Track.

Reid topped the field in the 100 meters with a blazing time of 11.59 seconds, a time that would rank her in the top-10 in the East Region.

Also winning events were the women’s 4x100 relay, Ryan O’Connor (1500m), Clarissa Perkins (Discus) and A.J. Dow (Javelin).

O’Connor captured the 1500 meters with a time of 3:55.12 and later took third in the 400 meters (49.12).

In the 4x100 relay, the women’s team of Krista Mangum, Reid, Maya Baxter and Hailey Blackburn finished first with a time of 46.36 while the men’s squad of Cameron White, Jeremy Johnson, Lindsay and Johnny Nixon placed second (41.34).

Perkins used a mark of 150-2 to win the Discus.

In the field events, A.J. Dow won the Javelin with a throw of 181-7 feet while Melissa Stallings was second in the women’s event (129-8).

In the Hurdles, Mangum finished second in the 100 Hurdles (14.49) and Lindsay placed third in the 110 Hurdles (14.30). Meanwhile in the 400 Hurdles, Kiyla Herring led the UNCW women with a second-place finish (1:03.62) and Signe Hardigan was third (1:05.07).

UNCW placed three in second in the Pole Vault. Harrison Booth, Andrew Jung and Brad Hollowell tied for second with a vault of 14-11.

Jonique Fonville added a second-place finish in the women’s Triple Jump (38-4) and Cam Walton was third in the men’s event (44-9.75).

The Seahawks continue their outdoor season on Apr. 5-6, at the Florida Relays.
