NORFOLK, VirginiaJordan Ramsey delivered another dominant start and Drew Farber collected three hits as UNCW held off Old Dominion’s late charge for a 6-3 series clinching win on Saturday in Colonial Athletic Association baseball action at the Metheny Baseball Complex.

With the series win, the Seahawks improved to 6-1 in the CAA and 19-8 overall. UNCW also evened its road record with a 3-3 mark. Monarchs dropped to 13-12 and 4-7.

Ramsey (4-2) allowed one run, unearned, on four hits and two walks over seven innings. He finished with six strikeouts and lowered his earned run average to 1.46.

Hunter Ridge added two hits and knocked in two runs for UNCW, who built a 6-0 lead after four innings. Terence Connelly added two hits and scored twice.

Ryan Yarbrough (1-3) was saddled with the loss, allowing six runs, four earned, on 11 hits in six innings.

Kelly Secrest got the final out of the game for his second save.

Next up: The Seahawks close out the series on Sunday with a 1 p.m. start against the Monarchs.

How it happened: Tyler Molinaro opened the scoring in the second inning as his team-leading fifth homer of the season led off the frame. An ODU error plated the second run and Luis Renvill capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly later in the inning. ODU threatened to narrow a 6-1 deficit in the seventh, but Ramsey closed out the inning with a fly ball out to strand runners at first and second.

Inside the numbers: UNCW advanced 12-of-18 runners on the afternoon, keying the win … The Seahawks also plated runners from third with less than two-out in all three opportunities (Renvill, Ridge and Terence Connelly … Ramsey held ODU to 0-14 with runners on base and 2-11 with two out … ODU was just 2-for-21 with runners on base.

Notes: Molinaro’s homer was the second for UNCW since Mar. 19 (East Carolina) … Reliever Justin Livengood raised his season total of strikeouts to 24 in 13.2 innings (15.8 per nine innings) … The Seahawks did not allow an earned run on the day … Michael Bass extended his hitting streak to 23 games with a single in the fourth inning … His on-base streak also moved to 29 … For Ramsey, his ERA stands at 0.62 in his last six starts while opponents are hitting .232 against him … He has surrendered just six extra base hits in that span of 43.2 innings … The Seahawks own a record of 15-4 against schools in the final regular season series of their final season as a member of the CAA (American 3-0, Drexel 3-0, East Carolina 1-2, Georgia State 3-0, Richmond 1-1, ODU 2-0, VCU 2-1).
