- LaGrange
led the Seahawks with a .636 batting average with five runs batted in and two
scored. LaGrange belted his second round tripper of the season in the Seahawks 9-3
win on Friday as the Seahawks began their sweep of VCU. On Sunday, his RBI
single in the sixth inning put the Seahawks in front to stay as they completed
the sweep with a 3-2 win. LaGrange is hitting .533 (8-for15) in his modest
four-game hitting streak.
CAA Pitcher of the Week Nominee: Jordan
Ramsey, Sophomore, RHP, Lexington, N.C./North Davidson
- Ramsey
tossed his second career complete game, but it was his first nine-inning effort
as UNCW topped VCU, 7-2, on Saturday, clinching a series win for UNCW against
its former CAA rival. Ramsey's (1-2) previous career-long was 7 and 2/3 innings
last season against Towson and his seven strike strikeouts tied his career-high
for the third time overall and second this season. Ramsey, the reigning CAA
Co-Pitcher-of-the-Week, scattered nine hits and walked two while allowing just
three hits with two outs. With runners on base, VCU went just 2-forf-13 against
the righthander who ended second and fourth innings with strikeouts and runners
in scoring position. Ramsey has allowed just one earned run in his last 23 and
2/3 innings, fashioning a 0.38 ERA over that span. On the season his ERA stands
at 1.91.
