WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - Meena Reid and Clarissa Perkins broke their own school records
in the 100 meters and Shot Put to lead UNCW's women's team to a convincing win
at the UNCW Seahawks Invitational on Saturday at the Greene Track & Field
Complex. The Seahawks posted a sweep of the meet as the men also claimed the
meet championship.
Reid narrowly broke her own standard in the 100 meters,
topping her previous record by 0.01 seconds when she clocked in at 11.70. She
added another win in the 200 meters, posting a time of 24.48. For Perkins, her
toss of 45-10.5 feet eclipsed her record of 45-3.75 set last weekend at the
Battle of the Beaches. She added a win in the Discus with a career-best mark of
148-7.
Adding wins for the Seahawks was the 4x100 relay of Valerie
Afam, Reid, Maya Baxter and Hailey Blackburn and Marlee Cadwell in the Pole
Vault.
UNCW's men's team won two relays as the 4x100 relay of David
Lindsay, Jeremy Johnson, Jordan Reed and Cam White clocked in at 41.40 and the
4x400 squad of Collins-Hall, Anthony Colon, Alec Faust and Trip Foreman went
3:21.56.
Adding individual event wins were Johnson in the 100 meters,
Lindsay in the 110 Hurdles, Faust in the 400 Hurdles and Aerial Chatman in the
Triple Jump.
UNCW next competes in the Shamrock Invitational on Mar.
