RALEIGH, North Carolina - N.C. State's 33rd-ranked women's tennis team remained unbeaten this spring with a 6-1 victory over visiting UNCW in a non-conference match Friday at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.

The Wolfpack surged to its ninth straight victory to open the spring season. The Seahawks closed out their spring break road trip with a 2-2 mark and carry a 6-5 record into Sunday's 11 a.m. home match with East Tennessee State.

NCSU won the doubles point by taking matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. UNCW's No. 3 tandem of sophomore Alyssa Ritchie and freshman Christine Kharkevitch did push their record to 7-3 on the year with an 8-5 decision over the Wolfpack's Chloe Smith and Sophie Nelson.

The hosts increased the score to 3-0 with wins at No. 2 and No. 6 singles before the Seahawks got on the board. Ritchie, playing No. 5 singles, tripped up NCSU's Elisha Hande, 6-0, 7-6 (2) for her seventh win of the season.

The Wolfpack clinched the match at the top of the lineup when No. 52 Joelle Kissell came from behind to beat UNCW's Angie Sekely, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

The Seahawks return to the UNCW courts for back-to-back home matches against ETSU (March 10) and Appalachian State (March 14) before embarking on another four-match road trip.
