Payne McLeod, Junior, Reidsville, N.C./Reidsville

- McLeod led the Seahawks in their spring opener, finishing 24th overall in the 57-golfer field. The ever-steady McLeod carded a 73-73-71=217 scorecard, recording UNCW's lowest round of the tournament.

All seven Seahawks competed at the Del Walker Intercollegiate with Josh Woodfox and Jens Geweke competing as individuals ... Sophomore Dylan Harris (75-75-73=223) made his season debut and responded with a 35th-place finish, second highest among those competing for UNCW ... For Harris it was a new career-low tournament score, besting his previous low of 224 during his freshman season ... Thomas Bass and Payne McLeod are tied for the team lead with eight rounds of par or better golf ... UNCW's final round 289 at the Del Walker tied for its third lowest round of the season.

The Seahawks will be playing their second tournament on the west coast on Mar. 8-10, when they compete in the Bandon Dunes Intercollegiate. The field includes: Colorado, Cal State Northridge, Fresno State, Gonzaga (host), Long Beach State (Del Walker Champions), UM Kansas City, Northern Colorado, Oregon, Pacific, San Jose State, Santa Clara, SMU, UC Davis, UCLA, Utah Valley, Washington and Washington State.
