WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Junior Angie Sekely of UNCW has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's first Women's Tennis Player-of-the-Week of the spring season after winning a pair of matches against conference foes.

The Mississauga, Canada, netter helped the Seahawks split matches with CAA rivals James Madison and William & Mary. UNCW defeated JMU, 4-3, before W&M edged the Seahawks by an identical score.

Sekely, playing No. 1 singles, cruised past JMU's Taylor Pinchoff, 6-2, 6-1, and then outlasted W&M"s Maria Belaya, 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8).

"I'm really proud and excited about this honor for Angie," said Evan Clark, UNCW's first-year head coach. "She's worked very hard the last several months and it's paid off. She is well deserving of this honor and I know she will continue to do great things."

The Seahawks return to action on Thursday with a 2:30 p.m. match at regional rival Coastal Carolina.
