FAIRFAX, Va. - Senior
Meena Reid was one of five event winners for UNCW as she set a new school
record in the 60 meters on Saturday in the indoor season opener at the Patriot
Games.
Reid, who held the previous mark of 7.55 seconds, broke her
own mark with a time of 7.48.
Joining Reid with event wins were sophomores Clarissa Perkins
(Shot Put) and Cameron Walton (Long Jump), junior Aerial Chatman (Triple Jump)
and senior Kyle Barbour (Weight Throw).
The Seahawks also received 10 finishes of third or better.
Hailey Blackburn, a sophomore, took second in the 60 meters behind Reid. Junior
Krista Mangum, meanwhile, added a second-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles.
In the High Jump, freshman Emily Kimble and sophomore Jonell Taylor tied for
third with a height of 5-3.
On the men's side, seniors Jeremy Johnson and Conor Brooks
posted second-place finishes in the 60 and 500 meters, respectively. UNCW's
4x400 relay also finished second.
Senior David Lindsay placed third in the 60 meter hurdles
while senior Eric Griffin was third in the Weight Throw and Brent Campbell was
third in the Long Jump.
The Seahawks next head to State College, Pa., for the Sykes
& Sabock Challenge Cup on Feb. 2.
