FAIRFAX, Virginia
- UNCW completed its impressive run at the Patriot Invitational, winning the
men's meet by 32.5 points over host George Mason on Saturday at the McKay
Natatorium. The Seahawk women placed seventh.
The Seahawks closed out their impressive showing by winning
the 400 Freestyle Relay with a meet record time of 3:021.21. The relay
consisted of C.J. Fiala, Joe Gallene, Gabe Thran and Michael Williams. It was
UNCW's third meet-record set during the weekend.
Sophomore Valtteri Halonen and Gallene led UNCW with event
wins, taking first in the 200 Backstroke and 100 Freestyle, respectively. UNCW
placed swimmers in six of the eight scoring positions in the 100 Free to expand
its lead.
Carly Tanner added a second-place finish in the 100 Free for
the UNCW women.
The Seahawks close out the fall semester hosting the Seahawk
Invitational on Dec. 1-2.
