The Seahawks had four players sign professional contracts off the 2011 squad. Brandon Miller (Rochester), Daniel Roberts (Wilmington), Christian Davidson (Wilmington) and Josh Boone (Dayton). All played in the United Soccer League.



UNCW Heads To The Mountains For Opening Round Game With JMU
The Seahawks look to extend their season Monday when they visit third-seeded James Madison for a 7 p.m. kick-off at University Park on the JMU campus. UNCW earned the sixth and final berth in the CAA tournament two weekends ago when they toppled visiting Towson, 1-0, at the UNCW Soccer Stadium. UNCW is returning to the CAA tournament for the first time since 2009, when they edged Northeastern for its first-ever CAA championship.

Delaware was outshot, 13-12, but allowed just three shots on goal as the Blue Hens edged visiting UNCW, 1-0, in the regular season finale for both sides.

Driver's Strike Sends Seahawks Into CAA Postseason
Thomas Driver's goal just prior to intermission lifted UNCW to a 1-0 win over visiting Towson in Colonial Athletic Association soccer action at the UNCW Soccer Stadium. The win clinched a berth for the Seahawks in the upcoming conference championship tournament. [Story/Box Score]

Offense Getting A Boost
After notching just 20 games in 18 games in 2011, the Seahawks have totaled 24 goals through 18 contests. Colin Bonner's five goals lead the Seahawks while fellow underclassmen Jamie Dell and Nathaniel Goodwin have four goals apiece and give the Seahawks a force to reckon with in the coming seasons. Senior Thomas Driver became the 10th Seahawk to score a goal this season with his winner against Towson.


How Fresh Of Ya!
Freshmen Colin Bonner, Nathaniel Goodwin and Hannes Schmitz combined for all three goals against William & Mary. Of UNCW's 24 goals, freshmen and sophomores have scored 22. The other goals were scored by Michael Recchia, a game-winner vs. Hofstra, and Thomas Driver versus Towson.

New Kid Between the Pipes
Freshman Sam Williams entered the strting lineup midway through the season and has responded in fine fashion, posting a 1.12 GAA and making 15 saves. He made a season-high five saves in the finale loss at Delaware. The Seahawks are 4-2 when Williams is in the starting lineup. Williams has played in eight games with seven bing starts.

A Look At James Madison [Web site]
The Dukes enter the postseason on the heels of a five-game unbeaten streak ending 2-0 loss at Drexel ... Paul Wyatt was the top point-getter with 16 and goal scorer with seven for the Dukes ... Josh Grant added six goal and an assist ... The two combined for 13 of JMU's 23 goals on the season ... Christian McLaughlin doled out a team-leading four assists ... Defensively, the Dukes allowed just 16 goals with goalkeepers Colin Newcity (0.87) and Kyle Morton (0.92) combing for a team GAA of 0.89, ranking third in the league ... The Duo also posted five shutouts ... JMU recorded a 6-1-2 record at home with the lone loss coming against nationally-ranked Georgetown (1-0, 9/25) ... The Dukes knocked off then second-ranked North Carolina in early September in Harrisonburg.

The Last Time They Met ...
Nick Njuki's blast from 24 yards out sailed into the upper left corner with 2:06 remaining in the second overtime to lift James Madison to a 2-1 win over host UNCW in Colonial Athletic Association men's soccer action on Wednesday at the UNCW Soccer Stadium. [ Story/Box ] The Seahawks trail the dukes 24-9-2 in the all-time series [Results] and JMU is 2-0 against the Seahawks in the CAA tournament with 1-0 wins in 1992 in Norfolk, Va., and in 1998 in Washington, D.C.

Colonial Athletic Association
UNCW was picked in a tie for eighth with Hofstra in the 12-team circuit in a vote of the league's coaches (story). The CAA sent four teams to the NCAA tournament including conference champion Delaware, who claimed the league title for the first time. Joining the Blue Hens in the 48-team tournament were Old Dominion, James Madison and Georgia State. ODU was picked by the league's coaches to win the conference title and received nine of a possible 11 first-place votes. James Madison received one vote and was second followed by defending champion Delaware. William & Mary and Northeastern rounded out the top five.
