WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - Following a two-year hiatus, the Colonial Athletic Association
Baseball Championships will return to UNCW's Brooks Field for the 2014 and 2015
seasons.
The postseason tournament was held in Wilmington from 2004-2011 before moving to Harrisonburg, Va., in 2012 and 2013 at
James Madison's Veterans Memorial Park.
"We're excited about the CAA Baseball Championship returning
to Wilmington for 2014 and 2015," CAA Commissioner Tom Yeager said. "Their
tremendous facilities, the significant local interest and the region's
amenities make this an ideal tournament site for our teams and fans."
Brooks Field has hosted the popular event 11 times,
including 1989, 1990 and 1993, along with the eight-year run from 2004-11.
The Seahawks captured the 2012 title, their first since 2006
and third overall. UNCW also won the tournament in 2004 and 2006 and reached the
championship game in 2009 and 2010.
UNCW opens the 2013 season Feb. 15 at home against College
World Series participant Ken State. The Seahawks will face the Golden Flash and
Virginia Tech that weekend.
