JONESBOROUGH, Tennessee - Thomas Bass and Payne McLeod both carded
one-under-par 71's and are tied for 12th overall to lead UNCW into a tie for
seventh after the first round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on
Friday.
Tennessee and Memphis are
tied for the lead in the 13-team field after both posted eight-under-par scores
of 280. UT's Rick Lamb and Grant Milner of Memphis opened the tournament with
five-under 67's.
The Seahawks are tied with
Virginia Tech and Army for seventh after 18 holes.
Freshman Jens Geweke
fashioned his best score of the fall with an even-par 72 and is tied for 22nd.
Junior Stefan Brewer
recorded UNCW's fourth all-time hole-in-one in competition when he aced hole
no. 16, a par-three, measuring 228 yards.
