2012-13 UNCW Virtual Guide

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The Seahawks are in the middle of a three tournament crunch this weekend when they compete in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Jonesborough, Tennessee. UNCW will be competing in the tournament for the fourth consecutive year after finishing eighth, a program best, last fall.

UNCW is coming off its best outing of the fall after finishing tied for second with Houston at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic in South Bend, Ind. Senior Thomas Bass won the even by two strokes over a pair golfers including teammate Payne McLeod. Bass held off several challenges in the final round to win his second career championship. McLeod, meanwhile, posted his first career top-five finish when he carded a career-low tying 68 in the final round. He birdied the final two holes to make a push into second.

Bass was named Colonial Athletic Association Golfer-of-the-Week for his tremendous outing. He joins McLeod, who was named CAA Golfer-of-the-Week earlier this season as Seahawks to earn the award. [ Release ]

Junior Ryan Nagy also tied his career-low round when he fashioned a three-under-par 68 in the second round. He finished tied for 28th overall.

The Seahawks will next play in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate on Oct. 19-20 at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
