SOUTH BEND, Indiana - Senior Thomas Bass continued his strong early season with an opening round even-par-71 and is tied for sixth overall. Meanwhile, UNCW is tied for seventh on Sunday at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic at the Warren Golf Club.

Nationally-ranked Houston is tied with Michigan State for the team lead while Houston's Curtis Reed and UT Arlington's Paul McConnell are tied for the lead at two-under.

The Seahawks are tied with Minnesota for seventh after both squads carded a 12-over-par 296 in the first round. Xavier holds a one-stroke lead for fifth over the Seahawks and Golden Gophers.

The second round tees off at 10:30 a.m. with the Seahawks and Golden Gophers being joined by Michigan.
