WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Former UNCW soccer standout Christian Davidson hopes to join other former Seahawks who have played professionally after earning a trial with Scottish Premier League and European power Celtic Football Club.

Davidson was a member of the UNCW squad from 2008-2011, including the Colonial Athletic Association championship team in 2009. As a captain in his last two years, the centerback was a leader on and off the pitch and was vital to the Seahawks' success. 

The Sugar Land, Texas, native has plenty experience with his prospective club along with other teams across Europe and in the United States.  Through his four off seasons at UNCW, he trained with prestigious clubs such as Celtic (Scotland), Aberdeen (Scotland), Kansas City FC (MLS), and the Wilmington Hammerheads. 

 "Christian's intangibles are what set him apart," said UNCW head coach Aidan Heaney. "He has a great work ethic and was someone our team looked to as a leader."

While Davidson is known for his play in the middle, he is using the trial period to focus on the left-back position. In the new position, Davidson will be able to use his pace and get involved with the offense more while also utilizing his defensive presence to create offensive pressure on the wings.

Heaney said, "Christian has great technical skills, is a great passer of the ball, reads the game at a very high level, and is very coachable; all of which will help him transition to the international style of play."

In his four years at UNCW, Davidson appeared in 66 games with 30 shots and nine assists. He ranks seventh all-time in minutes played with 5,173 minutes over four seasons with the Seahawks.
