WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - Seniors Carly Tanner and Michael Williams were named Colonial Athletic
Association Swimmers-of-the-Week on Tuesday following impressive performances
against nationally-ranked Tennessee in last week's season opening meet at t he
Seahawk Natatorium.
Tanner posted a pair of two top-four finishes in two
individual events and two relays. The UNCW women's 200 Medley Relay finished
third with a time of 1:47.95 and the 400 Freestyle Relay placed fourth with a
time of 3:39.13. Tanner recorded second-place finishes in 50 Freestyle (24.17
seconds) and 100 Breaststroke (1:06.17).
Williams also powered a pair of relays, leading the Seahawks
to wins in the 200 Medley Relay (1:32.91) and the 400 Freestyle (3:07.95). He
finished fifth in the 50 Freestyle (21.90) and third in the 100 Free (47.39).
The Seahawks have this weekend off from competition before
returning to the pool on Oct. 12-13 against Richmond and host Old Dominion in
Norfolk, Va.
