WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - UNCW freshman striker Nathaniel Goodwin scored once against
Hofstra and assisted on the game-winner against Duke to earn Colonial Athletic
Association Rookie-of-the-Week honors.
The Seahawks improved to 4-5-1 with a pair of one-goal wins
last week, including a 2-1 decision against Duke, which had won the last four
editions of the rivalry. Goodwin set up sophomore Jamie Dell for the
game-winning tally in the 84th minute to complete a UNCW comeback.
Against Hofstra, the Seahawks held the lead on two different
occasions, including a 2-1 lead in the 83rd minute on Goodwin's second goal of
the season. After seeing the game knotted later in the game, the Seahawks were
able to claim the victory when Michael Recchia powered home his first career
goal with three seconds remaining.
The Seahawks hit the road this week for a pair of CA
showdowns with William & Mary on Oct. 3 and Drexel on Oct. 6.
