WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - UNCW senior infielder Hunter Ridge was named to the Coastal
Plain League's All-Star team after a solid summer season with his hometown
Asheboro Copperheads.
Despite playing first base for the Seahawks, Ridge was
selected to the second-team as an outfielder.
Ridge batted .274 with seven doubles and four home runs. He
knocked in 18 runs and scored 15 as the Copperheads made a later surge to
qualify for the CPL postseason. In the league's midseason All-Star game, Ridge
earned Defensive MVP honors and was the winner of the home run contest.
Ridge finished his career as the Copperheads all-time leader
in hits and runs batted in.
The senior from Asheboro, N.C., enters his final season with
the Seahawks poised to become the program's all-time leader in several
offensive categories, including hits, on base average, runs batted in and
doubles.
The Seahawks open the team practice portion of their fall
season on Sept. 17.
