WILMINGTON, North Carolina - With the fall semester now in full swing, the UNCW men's basketball team welcomes three newcomers to the official roster for the upcoming 2012-13 campaign.

Freshman center C.J. Gettys will be joined by veteran guards Tyree Graham and Chris Dixon when fall conditioning begins next week.

Gettys, a 7-0, 260-pound post player from Findlay, Ohio, inked with the Seahawks during last year's fall signing period. He was a force inside for Findlay High School, averaging 20.6 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.0 blocks as the Trojans went 15-5.

Gettys closed out his prep career as Findlay's second all-time scorer with 1,164 points and the school's career rebounding leader with 633 boards. He earned Third-Team All-State honors from The Associated Press.

Graham, a 6-1, 190-pound native of Durham, dons the Teal and Blue after stops at Texas Tech, Brunswick Community College and Rutgers.

Graham was a First-Team All-State selection at Village Christian Academy in Fayetteville before spending one season at Texas Tech, one year at nearby Brunswick Community College and two campaigns at Rutgers.

"Tyree is a great competitor," third-year Head Coach Buzz Peterson said of Graham, who earned his Bachelor's Degree in Labor Relations from Rutgers. Graham has one season of college eligibility remaining.

"Tyree is very vocal and he has the ability to play both guard positions. He's a great scorer and will be counted on to provide leadership to our younger players."

Injuries have kept the heady performer off the floor the last two years for the Scarlet Knights. Graham suffered a torn ACL in 2010-11 and then ruptured his Achilles last year. Graham is fully healthy now and ready to contribute for the Seahawks.

Following an outstanding prep career at Village Christian, where he averaged 23.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.7 assists as a senior, Graham headed west to Lubbock to play for TTU's Pat Knight. He wound up collecting 3.9 points and 1.7 rebounds in 13 games for the Red Raiders.

Graham then ramped up his game again at BCC during the 2009-10 season. He averaged 17.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg and 3.4 apg for Coach Walter Shaw's club and shot 43 percent behind the arc in Supply, N.C. Graham was a First-Team All-Region selection and Most Valuable Player in the Region 10 Tournament.

The North Carolinian moved on to Piscataway and had surgery to repair his torn ACL in September of 2010. After returning from the injury last spring, he suffered the Achilles injury that cost him the 2011-12 season.

Dixon, a 6-0, 180-pound playmaker from Montgomery, Ala., started his career at Alabama before moving on to Redlands Community College.  He averaged 14.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists and shot 42 percent from long range last season in El Reno, Okla.

"Chris gives us another talented point guard," said Peterson. "He has excellent quickness and athleticism for this league and will give us great depth at the point guard position. He has the ability to both create his own shot and make his teammates better."

Dixon graduated from Brewbaker Tech High School and spent one year as a walk-on at Alabama before transferring to Redlands. He was a Second-Team All-State selection at Brewbaker Tech after averaging 15.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 10.0 apg, becoming the first 1,000-point scorer in Brewbaker history.

Dixon was also a three-time All-Metro choice during his prep career before seeing limited time in Tuscaloosa.

"Tyree and Chris give us two additional CAA-caliber guards and depth at those positions," added Peterson. "They both have competed at the highest level and will be counted on to provide additional leadership, toughness, shooting and ball handling to our squad next season."
