WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - UNCW senior keeper Caitlin Hunter was named Colonial Athletic
Association Women's Soccer Co-Player-of-the-Week on Monday.
Hunter was also recognized by College Sports Madness, earning CAA Player-of-the-Week
accolades from the online publication.
"Caitlin
came up big at several points over the weekend at the Hokie Invitational," said UNCW Head Coach Paul Cairney. "She played with great confidence and allowed our team to stay in our games against two quality opponents in Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. Her
attention to detail as she prepares for games definitely helped her have success last weekend. Our whole
team was great defensively and they share this recognition with Caitlin."
Hunter allowed just one goal in 211:37 to lead the
Seahawks to a 0-1-1 result against two ranked opponents at the Hilton Garden
Inn Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., last weekend. The Ashburn, Va.,
product made six saves in a 1-0 double overtime loss to No. 22 Virginia Tech on
Friday before posting 10 saves in a 0-0 draw against No. 3 Wake Forest Sunday
to record her eighth career shutout.
UNCW (0-1-1) returns to action Aug. 26 as it travels to No.
7 Virginia for a 2 p.m. contest.
