(This is the 11th in a series of installments highlighting the successful 2011-12 sports season at UNCW)

       The track and field teams continued to be among the CAA's best in 2011-12, with several outstanding performances during the course of the season. Led by David Lindsay and Bob Vanderham, the men's team finished second in the CAA Championships at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va. Lindsay won the 100 Meter Hurdles and Vanderham repeated in the 800 Meters. The pair was joined by jumper Aerial Chatman at the NCAA East Regionals in Jacksonville, Fla. Senior pole vaulter Jordan Daywalt paced the women's team, qualifying for the East Regionals as well.
