(This is the ninth in a series of installments highlighting the successful 2011-12 sports season at UNCW)
One of the highlights during the spring season for the UNCW softball team came in early March when senior Amanda Davenport arrived at Boseman Field on a crisp afternoon in March. The veteran righthander strode to the circle and twirled the third no-hitter in school history with a 1-0 victory over visiting North Carolina A&T. Davenport became the seventh pitcher in school history to record more than 100 strikeouts in a season.
